Funeral service for Joan Marie Bushman, 81 of Enid, Okla., will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Maine Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Tom Pullin officiating.

Burial will be 4 p.m. at Alva Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation with the family is 5:30-7 p.m. today, March 27, at the funeral home.

Joan was born Jan. 2, 1934, in Hopeton, Okla., to Charles A. and Nola (Ipson) Nelson and passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015, in Oklahoma City.

Joan grew up on the family farm and graduated from Colorado Springs Bible College Academy.

On June 7, 1951, she married Jerald Bushman at Pleasant View Church, near Dacoma.

They lived in Bethany, Okla., and later moved to Kansas, Ark., and then to Arizona, where they lived for 20 years. In 2004, they moved to Enid.

Joan worked at hospitals, doctors offices, and nursing homes. She was a member of Maine Church of the Nazarene, and loved China painting. Joan loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Joan fulfilled the role of the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31:10-31. She was a very, very good wife, mother, pastor’s helper, being a kind and loving person, faithful and true all her life, the very best.

Joan is survived by her husband, Jerald Bushman of the home; four children, Dwight (Roxine) Bushman of Wakita, Dennis (Sheri) Bushman of Alva, Douglas (Laurie) Bushman of Enid, and Donna (Mark) Davis of Syracuse, Kan.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Delores Gruner of Lakeside, Calif., and Wanona (Charles) Newlin of Alva, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Maine Church of the Nazarene or the Gideons.

Guestbook is available at www.andersonburris.com.
