Lawrence "Larry" David Burnett, 81-year-old Gage, Oklahoma, resident, passed from this life on December 30, 2017.

Larry was born July 20, 1936, to Donald C. and Marcella (Weaver) Burnett in Toledo, Ohio. He grew up in Toledo attending the local schools there. At the age of 16, Larry left high school to join the US Coast Guard. After faithfully serving for four years, he returned to Toledo and graduated from Libbey High School. After high school Larry attended college at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma. He always said he had to borrow a dime to ride the train to get from Ohio to Oklahoma to attend college. He graduated from Northwestern with a bachelor's degree in science and industrial arts. On August 8, 1964, Larry married Katherine Marie Cummings and to this union two children were born, Bryce Dean and David Scot. Larry was a teacher and moved frequently while pursuing his teaching career. He lived and taught in Fargo, Dover and Drummond, Oklahoma; and Haviland, Utica and Attica, Kansas. Then in 1979 they moved to Gage where he taught industrial arts at the Gage Public Schools. After retiring from teaching, Larry became a handyman in the area of Gage.

Larry enjoyed many activities, one being participating in the Boy Scouts of America where he was the Boy Scout leader for a troop in Woodward. He was a good Christian man. Larry was baptized in 1971 at the Assembly of God in Alva and he currently attended the Believers Chapel in Gage. One thing that Larry loved to do was woodworking. This can truly be seen in the woodwork at the Believers Chapel, where he helped with the majority of converting an old grocery store into a beautiful church. What Larry will be remembered most of all for is his love for his family and helping others.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Donald Burnett.

He is survived by his wife of the home, Katherine Burnett; two sons, Bryce Burnett and Scot Burnett, both of Woodward; four grandchildren, Lauren Burnett of Arnett, Kelsey Avendano and husband Jose of Mooreland, Sydney Burnett of Woodward, and Mario Burnett of Woodward; two sisters Margaret Yates of Montpelier, Ohio, and Doris Austin of Tampa, Florida; many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Services will be held on January 3, 2018, at the Believers Chapel, Gage, Oklahoma. Interment will be in Alva
