Alva Cemetery


Alva – the funeral for Earl Ford Bruner, 98, will be 11 AM Wednesday in Alva Church of God. Steve Seaton and Russell Noss, pastors, will officiate. Burial will be in Alva Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are by Marshall Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be 11 AM Friday in Crossings Community Church, Oklahoma City. Seaton and Noss will officiate.

He was born May 5, 1903, near Dacoma to Wilbert D. and Anna E. Bruner and died Sunday, November 18, 2001, in Edmond.

He attended schools in Woods County and at Northwestern State Teachers College, Alva. He married Pearl Taylor. He taught school for several years at Weber, High Prairie and Red Bird schools. He later owned a business, Bruner's Auto Supply, in Dacoma and Alva and traveled throughout the state to service filling stations and garages. He also was a salesman for Holcomb Products. After retiring they moved to Waynoka. After her death in July 1991, he moved to Edmond.

He was a member of Church of God and was a Sunday school teacher for more than 40 years. He became a member of Crossings Community Church in Oklahoma City after moving to Edmond.

Surviving are three daughters, Lieuetta Adkisson of California, Vona Wiens of San Diego, and Joyce Dearborn of Edmond; three sisters, Ruth of Elmore, Ohio, Ella and Erma, both of South Hutchinson, Kansas; two brothers, James of South Hutchison and Arthur of Medford; nine grandchildren; 16 great – grandchildren; and two great – great – grandchildren.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the church's building fund.
