Virginia Wanda Slape Smith, 93, of Bartlesville, died Friday in Dewey.

Virginia was born in Drumright, OK on October 25, 1928 to Merle and Bertha (Long) Lea. She married Joseph Charlie Slape on December 7, 1945 in Bartlesville. Once married, they settled in the Bartlesville area raising six children: Joseph Charlie Jr., Earnest Lee, Larry Dean, Ronnie Ray, Connie Sue and Diana Kay. She worked for many years at the Phillips Cafeteria before retiring. After her husband’s death, Virginia later married Carl Smith. She enjoyed being at the lake, fishing, playing card games and playing bingo. She was an excellent cook, and we will all miss her “Wacky Cakes” and “Salmon Patties”.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Joseph Slape in 1994 and her second husband Carl Smith in 2007, as well as her children; Ernest Slape, Connie Cook and Ronnie Slape. Also, her granddaughters Sherry Hockett and Pamela Eudy, all of Bartlesville.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10-8 and Friday 9-11 at Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory - Walker Brown Chapel, 4201 Nowata Rd., Bartlesville, OK 74006.

Services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Friday, at the Liberty Chapel of Praise with Reverend Waymond White officiating.

Interment will follow in the White Rose Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel.
