Sharon Ann Mullen of Bartlesville, died at age 68 on Tuesday in Bartlesville. She was a U.S. veteran and tireless volunteer who served her country and countrymen faithfully.

Sharon was born the oldest daughter of Lloyd Claude and Betty Louise (Swansbrough) Royce on September 7,1952 in Ithaca, New York. In 1963 her family moved to East Rochester, NY, where she was raised and educated graduating high school in 1970. Sharon fondly remembered family trips with her sisters to Roseland Amusement Park on Canandaigua Lake, NY. During the Vietnam War Sharon answered the call and enlisted in the U.S. Army. She was stationed at Fort McPherson in Atlanta, Georgia. Even though she served stateside she was regarded as a Vietnam Vet. Over the next several years she lived in upstate New York, California, Louisiana and Texas before settling in Bartlesville, OK. Sharon was a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) who cared for elderly patients in their home. Through one of her clients she met Ron Johnson and they quickly realized they were each other’s half and enjoyed the past 30 years together. Sharon’s deepest passion in life was helping other veterans. As a Disabled American Service Rep, Sharon helped countless veterans file for benefits which helped to improve their daily lives. She traveled to many regional, state and national DAV (Disabled American Veterans) meetings and conventions, staying up-to-date on new policies and benefits. Together with Ron, she was a homebody - they enjoyed being together and took occasional trips to Branson. In her free time, she decorated photo albums to give away to family and friends.

Sharon is survived by her partner Ron Johnson; children, Kimberly Hix, Christopher Dolt and Rebecca Gilliam; sister Vera Royce; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Carolyn Sue Gonyou and daughter Tonya Gilliam.
