Jamie Luella Kirkpatrick passed to life eternal on Monday, January 16, 2023, in Stillwater, OK. In Oklahoma City, OK, Jamie entered this world on the 21st day of May 1956. A great friend, Doris Abraham, facilitated the introduction that led to the adoption of Jamie into a loving family. The only child of the late Felton Leon and Mabel Ruth Burks, she completed her elementary education in Bartlesville.

In 1974, she received her high school diploma from Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, South Dakota. She then completed her education with an Associate degree from Northern Oklahoma College and a bachelor’s degree (Science) from Southern Nazarene University.

Jamie, married to James Washington from 1973 to 2003, became a devoted and loving mother to her son Brett during this union. After attending modeling school, Jamie enjoyed a lavish one-event modeling career followed by several positions in banks before finding her footing as a dedicated and memorable employee for National Standard and, at the time of her departure, an Assistant Director at Langston University.

Jamie loved writing as much as she loved her Lord. She later lived her life in service. Once a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Stillwater, Jamie continued to praise and worship at Sunnybrook Christian.

In addition to her father and mother, Jamie was preceded in death by her sister Mona Jackson and Doris Abraham.

To cherish her memory, she leaves her only son Brett Washington (Tulsa), three grandchildren: Lance (Oklahoma City), Brody (Tulsa), and Jamie (Tulsa), her siblings: Calvinetta Duke (Oklahoma City) and Jack Irish (Oklahoma City), and a host of nieces, nephews, dear friends and all of the family she has adopted along the way.
