James R. “Jim” Wood of Bartlesville, OK passed from this life Thursday September 21, 2017 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa following a sudden illness. He was 82.

Jim was born August 28, 1935 to William and Louise (Weaver) Wood at Blackwell, OK. After high school, Jim attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater and served his country in the Army National Guard, retiring as a Staff Sergeant. He spent more than 20 years as a journalist with the Donrey Media Group, retiring as Managing Editor of the Bartlesville Examiner-Enterprise. He was the founding managing editor of the Bartlesville Constitution newspaper. He was a police officer with the Bartlesville Police Department from 1971-74. Jim was also an ordained Baptist minister. In his retirement years, he worked security at Jane Phillips Medical Center. He was a member of the First Baptist Church Bartlesville, Past Commander of the James H. Teel American Legion Post 105, Amateur Radio Club in Bartlesville, and a 32nd Degree Mason.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother: Jerry Wood.

He married Carol (Martin) Wood June 25, 1961 at Whitefield, OK, she survives of the home. Additional survivors include two children: Tim Wood of Tulsa, and Sarah Reid and husband Tom of Tulsa. Two grandchildren: Tommy and Hannah Reid, one sister Billie Phillips of Blackwell, OK, and one brother, Don Wood and wife Cathy of Blackwell, OK.
