Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home and Crematory.

A memorial has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to All-Star Therapy Group, 37500 US Highway 75, Ramona, Oklahoma 74061.

Leon enjoyed his volunteering and was on the Board of Directors for many years. Dwayne, his son, loves his time riding the horses and Max, his great-grandson, also volunteered .
Leon was born in Cordell, Oklahoma on September 18, 1927, the son of A.E. Smith and Irma M. (Ranquist) Smith. He grew up working on the family farm in Washita County, which is still owned by the family. Leon was the State Treasurer in 1945-46 for his FFA Chapter and was working on a Master Farmers program prior to his graduation from Cordell High School. He served in the US Army as part of the Occupation forces in Germany following WWII until receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1947. Leon attended Southwestern State at Weatherford and then Oklahoma A & M at Stillwater where he received his Bachelors degree in Accounting. He married Annetta Marie Drake at her parents home in Binger, Oklahoma on June 19, 1949. They moved to Bartlesville in the winter of 1951 where Leon worked at Phillips Petroleum Company as an accountant and systems analyst until his retirement.
Leon was a proud member of the Eagles Aerie 610 where he spent many nights assisting with bingo and enjoying good company. He was an avid quail and pheasant hunter and trained his beloved Brittany and pointer dogs to hunt with him. He was also involved with the Mid-Western States Field Trials Assoc. where he was an owner, handler, and honored to be the oldest active judge in the area.
Leon was well known throughout Bartlesville for his bright smile, wit, and willingness to engage in conversation wherever he went. He loved to travel with his wife, but he loved returning home even more. Working with his dogs and horses or simply working on his land was a point of pride for him, and his family feels blessed he was able to spend his last days on the land he loved so much.
He went by several names and wore many titles in his long life but none were more important to him as husband, Daddy, Grandpa, and Pa.

Leon is survived by his daughter, LeAnne Ames and husband Lenard Ames Jr. of Bartlesville, and his son, Dwayne Leon Smith of Bartlesville, his three grandchildren CeeJay Buchanan, Katherine Buchanan, and Scott Ames, and four great-grandchildren Max Goad, Mallory Brendle, Carter Ames, and Taylor Ames, as well as many nieces and nephews.
