Mrs. Nichols was born in Bartlesville on September 7, 1927 the daughter of Edna Lacey. She grew up and received her education in Bartlesville graduating from College High School. She attended Success Secretarial School in Bartlesville. She was employed at Gas Service Company until September 1950 when she was employed with Phillips Petroleum Company as a secretary in the engineering department and then later as a secretary with Applied Automations until her retirement in 1985. She was married to Billy Ray Nichols at Mound Valley, Kansas on December 28, 1948. They have made their home in the Bartlesville area since that time. She loved to sew, baking cakes, gardening, flowers, was an expert pistol shot, and had a huge doll collection. She enjoyed the nature and the outdoors and lived the last five years at their country home. She also enjoyed dancing and country western music.

Mrs. Nichols is survived by her husband, Billy Ray Nichols of the home, one daughter, Rita Byfield and husband Mike of Bartlesville, Earl Nichols and wife Teri of Bartlesville, five grandchildren, Sean Byfield, Kristi Davis, Katee Byfield, Ian Nichols and Andrew Nichols, and four great grandchildren, Lukas Byfield, Eva Davis, Gray Davis and Tycen Nichols.

She was preceded in death by her mother, aunts, uncles and a great grandson, Ryker Nichols.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established to Comforting Hands Hospice, 1366 S.E. Washington Blvd., Suite A, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74006.
