Harold Lloyd Mitchell, 90, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday,
November 29, 2016 at his home. He was born in Oblong, Illinois on December
1, 1925 to Clarence C. Mitchell and Myrtle Bailey.
Harold was raised on a farm and attended Dewey Schools where he completed
his education. Harold then enlisted in the US Army in 1943 and served in
during WWII. Returning home after his U. S. Army Service, he made his home
in Dewey and in Bartlesville. He married Sue Ann Swank in June of 1947 at
Dewey, Oklahoma at the 1st Christian Church. She preceded him in death in
1969. Harold then married Patsy Swank on June 16, 1972 in Missouri. Harold
was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company as a carpenter for 38 years and
retired in 1983.
Harold enjoyed many things in life. He enjoyed horse races, gospel music, OU football, John Wayne cowboy movies, watching TV and watching his
grandchildren play sports.
Harold is survived by his wife Patsy of the home; son Gregg Mitchell and
wife Paulla of Neodesha, Kansas; Step-son Mike Sawyer and wife Nita of
Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Step-son Bobby Sawyer and wife Linda of Broken
Arrow, Oklahoma; Daughter-in-law Carol Mitchell of Coffeyville, Kansas;
Sister Bonita Sears of Texas; 13 Grandchildren, Brian Mitchell, Michele Van
Winkle, Kim Mitchell, Ann Mitchell, Kate Mitchell, Sue Clay, Craig Mitchell,
Stephan Dority, Jessica Dority, Bobbi Lucas, Scott Sawyer, Jennifer Hines
and Rebecca Sawyer; 17 Great-grandchildren and 2 Great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers Ceral, Bernard, Howard
and Charles; one sister Bernice, 1 son Ronnie Mitchell in 2011; 1 daughter
Toni Dority in 2009 and wife Sue Ann Mitchell in 1969.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 1:00-8:00 pm at Stumpff Funeral Home and graveside services will be held Friday, December 2,
2016 at 11:00 am at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville, Oklahoma under
the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home.
