BARTLESVILLE, WASHINGTON CO, OK
(permission granted)

Lois N. McGinnis, age 91 and longtime resident of Bartlesville, passed away on December 8, 2015 at her home.

Lois Naomi Trease was born on December 1, 1924 in Morris, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of John Morton Trease and Myrtle Essie (Smith) Trease. She was raised in the Guthrie area before her family moved to Fall River, Kansas where she graduated high school. Lois continued her education by attending college in Wichita where she graduated with her degree in Education.
It was in Fall River where Lois met her husband and soulmate Wayne McGinnis. They were married October 1, 1944 and they made their first home there. They moved to Bartlesville approximately 70 years ago and have made their home here since that time. They were owners of McGinnis TV in Bartlesville for 55+ years. Lois served in all areas of the business, but mainly was the secretary and accountant.
Lois and Wayne were members of the Virginia Avenue Baptist Church in Bartlesville. Lois' passion was giving back to her community, making her active in many local clubs. She served as president and treasurer for the Bartlesville Pilot Club for many years. She was also active in Credit Women's Breakfast Club and Exchange Club. She was most proud of her service in Oklahoma Civil Air Patrol, where she had served as a public relations officer and assisted her husband flying many search and rescue missions for over 30 years.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jimmie Lee McGinnis; sister, Hazel Richards; and brother, Hobert Trease

Survivors include her husband, Wayne, of the family home; children, Kenneth Wayne McGinnis and his wife, Kathye, of Litchfield, Arizona, and Louise Ruth Maddock and her husband, Russell, of Bartlesville; grandchildren, Christy McGinnis and Kenny McGinnis, Jr. both of Litchfield, Jamie Maddock Pagan of Kihei, Hawaii, and Thor Maddock of Bartlesville; great-grandchildren, Ezekial, Audri, and Kaloni, both of Bartlesville.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Lois' name be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2448 E. 81st St., Suite 3000, Tulsa, OK 74137; or to Pilot International, 102 Preston Court, Macon, GA 31210.

Come and go visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1:00-8:00 PM and on Thursday from 9:00 AM-8:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave.
