Betty Jo Jordan, 81, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at her home in Okay, Oklahoma..

Betty Jo Workmon was born on April 30, 1933 in Okesa, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of William E. and Loretta (Shults) Workmon. She was raised and attended schools in Osage and Washington Counties, with the majority of her schooling in Ochelata, Oklahoma. She enjoyed participating in school sports, serving as a guard on the girls' basketball team, playing first base on the high school softball team, and was also on the volleyball team. She graduated with the senior class of 1951 from Ochelata High School.

Betty Jo and her high school sweetheart, Carl Edward Jordan, were united in marriage on May 5, 1951 at the United Methodist Church in Ochelata, Oklahoma. They made their home in Bartlesville before moving to Kansas City, Kansas, then to the Stillwater area until 1998 when they moved to Okay, Oklahoma. They were married for sixty-three years, one month and twenty-one days. Betty Jo always enjoyed spending time with her family. Whether working daily to get them through school or vacationing, she was a motivating influence. She enjoyed sewing, ceramics, camping, and canoeing. She was a member of the OK Canoers. She was a member of the Perkins Methodist Church and the Stillwater Methodist Church, although poor health prevented her from attending services in later years. She and Carl served as sponsors for the Perkins Methodist Youth Group for six years. They worked diligently putting all three children and three granddaughters through Oklahoma State University. One granddaughter was cheered long distance as she graduated from The Art Institute of California-San Diego. Their grandchildren were the delight of Betty Jo and Carl and when the younger ones arrived on the scene, both grandparents became avid Mountain Home, Arkansas visitors. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband , Carl Jordan, of the home; three children, Edward J. Jordan and his wife, Linda , of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Carla J. Evans and her husband, Steve, of Paradise Hill, Oklahoma and Brenda G. Phillips and her husband, David, of Clarkridge, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Rebecca Evans of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Jenny and Brent Akin of Braggs, Oklahoma, Amy Evans of Chelsea, Oklahoma, Niki and Shane Atherton of Alpine, California, Bethany and Denzal Zarinelli of San Diego, California, Charlie, Alexander and Elisa Phillips of Clarkridge, Arkansas and three great-grandchildren, Nevea, Brooke, and Trinity Atherton of Alpine, California. She is also survived by a sister, Ollie Lee, of Bartlesville and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jordan will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 28, 2014, in the Arnold Moore and Neekamp Funeral Home chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to the American Heart Association in care of the Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.honoringmemories.com.
