Jeffrey Lee Harris
March 26, 1962 - January 23, 2024

Jeffrey Lee Harris, affectionately known as Jeff; passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK while surrounded by family with his favorite song, Tom Sawyer by Rush, playing softly in the background.

Born to Gary and Dolores Harris on March 26, 1962 in Ponca City, OK, Jeff was a friend to everyone he met in his 61 years.

A proud 1980 graduate of Ponca City High School, Jeff furthered his education at the Ponca City Pioneer Technology Center where he graduated in plumbing. His career was marked by dedication and excellence. He worked as a plumber for several years in his early 20's, and then expanded his skills to general maintenance work at various businesses in Ponca City and Bartlesville, OK over the next many years. He also expanded his knowledge by becoming a computer technician, but his heart took him back to manual labor, always working with his hands.

In 1986, Jeff met the love of his life, Jean Hemken, at a music venue in Ponca City and married the next year; spending 37 wonderful years together, attending races, rock concerts, and car shows. Together, in 2000 they left Jeff's home of Ponca City to move to Bartlesville, OK where they both had exciting job offers. There, they raised a family and a life filled with love, laughter, and family events.

Jeff was a devoted father to his daughter Leah Rau of Ponca City, and his two sons, Ryan Harris of Calabasas, CA, and Jordan Harris of Bartlesville, OK. He also adored and bragged constantly on his grandchildren, Savannah, Addysen, Landon and Lyla.

Jeff's life was one of pleasure with the world around him. He was raised as an outdoor enthusiast, usually found with his best friends fishing and roaming the woods. When he was old enough to drive, his passion changed to dirt bikes, hot rods, and music. He grew from dirt bikes to street rods, but never lost his love of driving a gorgeous fast car or cruising back roads on a motorcycle with Jean. At the time of his passing, Jeff had been working on a car he planned to make, as he loved to say, “go fast!”

In the background was always his Rock music. He was a tremendous fan of great music and assembled many different stereo systems to enjoy that music at a very high volume. He and Jean attended over 45 Rock concerts together. His music collection was unmatched by his friends and they all joined him to crank it up and grill ribs and briskets. His grilling parties were legendary, and Jeff absolutely loved to share his cooking masterpieces with his co-workers, friends and family. Jeff would also drop what he was doing to fix a sink or anything else to help a friend or family. His wife had often found him fixing a sink at a gas station he happened to come across and just could not leave it alone.

Preceded in death by his parents, Gary and Dolores Harris, and his brother Dana Harris, Jeff's legacy is carried on by his loving wife, Jean; his children, Leah, Ryan, and Jordan, his 4 amazing grandchildren Savannah, Addy, Landon, and most recent addition Lyla, who never got to meet her PaPa. In addition, he is survived by his brother Mark [Amber] Harris of Edmond, OK, along with many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

A service to honor Jeff's life will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024, at 2:00 pm. at the Stumpff Funeral Home in Bartlesville, OK. A visitation/viewing will be at the same location on Thursday, February 8. A light dinner will follow Friday's service. Location of the dinner is yet undetermined.

Jeff Harris will be missed and remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His mischievous smile, his hearty laugh and tight hugs brought joy to every person who had the pleasure of spending time with him.
