Mary Jo (Hines) Dunaway

Mary Jo Dunaway was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and volunteer. She was born in Sallisaw, OK, October 20, 1922, to Leland and Mary Hines. The family moved to Dewey in 1940. She attended Oklahoma College for Women and the University of Oklahoma, majoring in journalism. She and Howard Dunaway were married October 19, 1946.
She was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church. She taught Sunday School, served on the Board of Elders, was Clerk of Session and active in Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of Chapter DW, PEO Sisterhood, Service League, Symphony Society, Friends of the Library and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother, Robert W. Hines. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Claire and Bill Wilson of Bartlesville; her daughter, Anne Sanders and son-in-law Alan of Seneca, S.C. She is also survived by her granddaughter Raycie Holliday and husband B.J. and her great granddaughter, Aubrey Holliday all of Anderson; her son John of California and five nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Memorial Park at 10:00 a.m., Thursday July 5th with Kristy Rogers, Commissioned Lay Pastor, First Presbyterian, officiating. Memorial may be made to Meals on Wheels, c/o First Presbyterian or to Concern, 333 SW Penn in Bartlesville.
