Constance Cox, longtime Bartlesville resident, passed away on August 7th in Plano, Texas, at the age of 93 with her family at her side.

Connie was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Mitchell.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 14th, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church of Bartlesville, under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home.

Born on December 5, 1923, near Stigler, OK, Connie was valedictorian of Kinta High School. She married Mitchell, her high school sweetheart, in 1941. During World War II she worked in the government rationing office. Connie and Mitchell moved to Bartlesville in 1948, and have been members of the First Christian Church of Bartlesville since 1949.
Beginning in 1958, Connie worked for the Bartlesville School System for over 30 years as secretary at Garfield, Central, and the Education Service Center. She received an Associate’s Degree in Business from Bartlesville Wesleyan College in 1979.
Connie was devoted to her family and her work and excelled at both with boundless energy at a time when working mothers were rare. She loved needlework, sewing, reading, and traveling, and she baked the best homemade pies in the world. After her retirement she volunteered at the Jane Phillips Hospital gift shop for over 20 years, and she continued to participate in Bartlesville Retired Educators and Central Retired Teachers.

Connie is survived by daughter Anne Kizer and husband George of Plano, TX; daughter Linda Potter and husband Grafton of Frisco; TX, grandchildren Amy Cuellar and husband Mauricio, Mark Kizer and wife Adrienne, Lauren Baker, Catherine Limeberry and husband Craig, Sara Baker; and great grandsons Lucas, Sebastian, and Tripp.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Washington County SPCA or the American Cancer Society.
