Our precious mother, Shirley Dean Tidwell, 76, went to be with our lord on Sunday September 29, 2013 at 9:55 PM, at the Forrest Manor Nursing Center in Dewey.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Tidwell will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday at the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Jim Anderson of the Word Of Truth Fellowship Church in Bartlesville officiating. Interment will be in the Dewey Cemetery, under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
The Family will receive friends, and have a Visitation on Wednesday evening October 2nd from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Stumpff Funeral Home.
Mrs. Tidwell was born on November 16, 1936 at Fairfax, Oklahoma to Joel Lee and Nina Lee (Stafford) Barnes. She was raised and received her education there graduating from Fairfax High School in 1955. She was married to Elbert Eugene "Gene" Tidwell on June 12, 1954, at Fairfax. They spent the early years of their marriage at Borger Texas, where Mr. Tidwell was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company. They came to the Dewey and Bartlesville area in 1961, making their home here since that time. Mrs. Tidwell had been employed first as a receptionist and medical assistant for the radiological services, and later at the Jane Phillips Medical Center as a receptionist for a number of years, until her ill health forced her retirement in June of 1998. Mrs. Tidwell had been in failing health for the past 15 years. Her Hobbies were antiquing, ceramics, and a glass collector of dishes, and loved her sports cars, and animals, particularly dogs and horses.
Mrs. Tidwell is survived by her two daughters; Tonya Evans and husband Kerry of Bartlesville, and Connie Wilson and husband Rod, of Bartlesville, and by a sister Mrs. Patty Turner of Crescent, OK, by Eight grandchildren; Tiffany Evans, Casey Evans (Nicki Coast), Vincent Joel Maldonado (Austin Williams), Mike and Katie Ivey, Heath and Candice Arnold, Tyler Wilson, Dustin & Jenny Gilmore, and Taylor Maldonado (Brent Wilson), by eight great- grandchildren; Mikaylynn Agnew, Malakai Agnew, Zane Agnew, Morgan Arnold, Harper Gilmore, Gavin Arnold, Echo Gilmore, and Mara Ivey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joel & Nina Lee Barnes, her lifetime love Elbert Eugene "Gene" Tidwell in 2004, and her brothers Emery Gene Barnes, and Dewayne "Duck" Barnes, and by a sister, Sharlene "Shod" Berry.
