He was
born on August 27, 1928 in Eureka, Kansas, to parents Cleo (Pat) Murphy
and Gertrude (Rhodes) Murphy. He earned a Bachelor of Science in
Business from Oklahoma State University after serving in the Army during
the occupation of Japan following WWII.
Chuck was a great family man. He married Mildred Ann (Mitzi) Straw on
September 12, 1948. They were married 57 years before her death in 2006.
They had two children together, David Patrick Murphy and Shelly Ann
Murphy. He married Mildred Dooley Murphy in 2008 and they were married
until her death in January 2018.
Chuck was a social, active man who was deeply involved in the United
Methodist Church and Kiwanis International. He enjoyed hunting, fishing
and cooking. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, servant’s
heart and his devotion to his family.
Survivors include his children, David & Linda Murphy, of Fort Worth, TX;
his daughter, Shelly Murphy of Colorado Springs, CO; and his
grandchildren, Katie & Jeremy Hutcheson, Shannon and Seth Elliott,
Patrick and Danielle Murphy, Megan Murphy, Rachel Whitley and Hallie
Gosch. Chuck also cherished his great grandchildren, Campbell, Caroline,
Emma, Charlotte and Madeline.
Graveside services will be held at 10 am Friday at the Dewey Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family
Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel.
