Roger Dale Melton, 63, died on Tuesday, April 4,2017 in Taos, New Mexico.
Visitation will be at the Stumpff Funeral Home on Saturday and Sunday, April 8th and 9th from 9 A.M. until 8 P.M.
Services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday, April 10, 2017 at the Dewey Cemetery Pavilion.

Interment will be in the Dewey Cemetery directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

Mr. Melton was born at Radford, Virginia on November 1, 1953 to Jack Ernest Melton and Jane (Morris) Melton. He started his education in Virginia and North Carolina and later moved to Palestine, Texas with his family where he graduated from high school. He attended Sam Houston State College in Huntsville, Texas where he played football. He had been employed with the Missouri Pacific Railroad in Texas and was later employed as an electrician with Zachary Construction Company in New Orleans. He later returned to Palestine, Texas and became disabled in an industrial accident. Following his disability, he lived in various parts of the country during which he became a private pilot, was an avid hunter and lived in Yellowstone, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana. For the past several years he has made his home with his daughter at Angel Fire, New Mexico.

Mr. Melton is survived by a daughter, Emily Jane Melton of Angel Fire, New Mexico, two sons, Craig Rodger Melton of Angel Fire, New Mexico and Markham Lee Hamilton of Mora, New Mexico, a brother, Kenny Melton and wife Wanda of Wann, Okla., and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, and a daughter, Brit Melton.
