Evelyn Hitt Fluegel, 93, of Bartlesville, passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 at Medicalodge in Dewey.

Evelyn was born July 18, 1924 in Elkwood, Virginia to parents William Franklin and Rhoda Cordelia (Ashby) Hitt. She was raised and educated in Remington, Virginia. Evelyn married Dale A. Fluegel in Washington, D.C. in 1945, while Dale was serving in the Army during WWII. Following his discharge in 1951, the couple moved to Bartlesville, where she worked her first job in the school cafeteria at Will Rogers and Madison. She also worked in alterations at Vandevers but her primary occupation was a diamond jewelry specialist at Thomas Jewelry and later Treasures Jewelry. She retired from there in the early 1980’s.
Evelyn’s hobbies were sewing and shopping and her favorite color was ‘sky blue pink with purple polka dots’. She loved her family and grandchildren. She was the world’s greatest grandma. She was a member of the First Christian Church.

Evelyn is survived by three daughters Carol Ebert and husband Randy of Bartlesville, Nancy Morris of Plymouth, North Carolina and Sharon Richter of Nicoma Park, Oklahoma; son Gary Fluegel and wife Deanie of Dewey; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren plus three on the way.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale in 1997, five brothers, three sisters and grandson Michael D. Oliphant in 2002; infant grandchildren Benjamin Eric Morris and Mary Elizabeth Morris; infant great grandchildren Dawson Fluegel and Patience Fluegel.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Dewey Cemetery.
