Chuck Brookshire of Fayetteville, AR passed away Friday, October 6, 2017 at the age of 76.

He was born August 13, 1941 in Bartlesville, OK to Charles David Brookshire and Wilda E. (Hawk) Brookshire.

Chuck was a proud alumni and Phi Lambda Chi of Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK. He retired from education in 2007 as Assistant Principal at Ramay Jr. High in Fayetteville, AR. He was a lifetime member of the Arkansas Coaching Association and very proud of his time serving as assistant coach with the Fayetteville High School girl's softball team. He was a member of the NRA and SASS (Single Action Shooting Society) where he was known as Cherokee Gunhawk. He also loved to fish, boat and being in the great outdoors and just simply lurkin'. Chuck will always be remembered for his humor and famous sayings.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Shannon Brookshire of Dallas, TX, and Keeley Mead and her husband Mark and 3 children of Tulsa, OK, as well as, sister, Carole Brookshire of Fayetteville, AR. His 4 grandchildren, Henry Mead, Dagen Mead, Landry Mead and Owen Abshure lovingly called him Geepaw. He is also survived by his loving companion, Linda Kime of Fayetteville, AR and her daughter, Casey Abshure and husband Blake and their son of Norman, OK. Chuck also left behind many friends, former colleagues and athletes that were very special to him.

Visitation/celebration will be held on Tuesday, October 10th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, October 11th at Dewey Cemetery in Dewey, OK.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chuck Brookshire Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O Ramay Junior High 401 South Sang Avenue, Fayetteville, AR 72701.
