Howard William Wheeler, 71, of Collinsville, OK passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018 in Oklahoma City.

He was born February 10, 1947 in Tulsa, OK to William Bethel Wheeler and Kathleen Cunningham Wheeler. He married the love of his life, Glenda Giddens, in Tulsa, OK on July 2, 1966. One month later, they moved to Collinsville. He coached girls soccer and also served on the Collinsville School board for 10 years in the 80’s and 90’s. He built his own home and remodeled several others for friends and family. He worked with his best friend James Boyd at Southwestern Bell for 33 years until retiring in 2002. He loved to travel with close friends Butch and Lee Ann Adams, visiting China, Kenya, Thailand, Europe and Russia. He also enjoyed traveling around the United States with his family. He liked going to the casino, seeing concerts and musicals, but especially loved attending all of his grandchildren's activities. For the last decade, he was the primary caregiver to his mother-in-law, Pauline Giddens, who he loved dearly.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home. The family will be present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at the Faith Fellowship Church with Rev. Kelvin Limbocker officiating.

Interment will follow at the Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the American Heart Association.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda. Two children: Cynthia Smith and her husband Mitchell of Tulsa and Chris Wheeler and Cathie of Collinsville.  Three grandchildren: Ryder Smith of Tulsa, Sean Kuehn of Sand Springs, and Samantha Maples and her husband Tyler of Catoosa. Two great-grandchildren: Tristan and Samuel Maples. He is also survived by one brother, Tillman Wheeler and his wife Willow of Catoosa.

Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
