"Uncle "T" was the most charismatic person I have ever known in my life," said Don Cargill. That just sums up everyone's feeling about this wonderfully complex individual.
"T" was born in Tulsa, OK as the fifth child of Clarence and Beatrice Cargill. The family quickly expanded to include six more siblings in addition to five half-brothers and sisters. The group migrated between Oklahoma and California for many years before finally settling in Bakersfield in the 1950s.
"T" loved people and they just loved him right back. His greatest gift was his ability to inspire the trust that enabled him to comfort others with the gifts of self-forgiveness and self-esteem. He was everyone's rock of strength.
His two sons, Scott and Kelly remember him as a father who was always there when needed. No matter what the situation, he was the person to turn to His presence will be sorely missed.
Later in life he met his soul mate, Mary Long, who became his wife on June 14, 2003. The two were blessed to live in Pine Flat in a little mountain cottage just for two. The cottage soon became a feeding station for deer, squirrels, cats, and a multitude of humming birds.
He is survived by his son Scott and wife Victoria; son Kelly and his children, Kyle, Taylor, and Kolyn Cargill.
"T" is survived by oldest brother Clyde's offspring Bonnie Gaeta, Jessica Wofford, and Clint Cargill.
Surviving siblings, nieces and nephews include David Cargill and son Donnie, step-son Tommy Saunders, daughter Michelle and husband Dannis Church, and girls Breanne Smith, Brooke and Bailey Hood.
Sister Beverly Sedgewick and her offspring: Kent Mathews and wife Kelly, their children Kara and Kent; Philip Mathews and wife Cheryl, their children Andrew and Lindsay; Sally and husband Oscar Alldredge and their children Alex Kelsey, Timmy and Victoria Alldredge; and John and Liza Fenton and children Cody and Allison.
Brother Doug and Marilyn Cargill with children Steven and wife Carrie, son Layton; Jeffrey with daughter Ashley, wife Cassie and son Grant. Brother Dennis and daughter Chrystal and her children Celeste and Chandler.
Also surviving are: sister Connie and husband Murrel Simpson; sister Debbie and husband Rick Zimmerman with offspring Chase and Madison; sister Susan and husband Gary Spell with sons Jacob and Zachary.
"T" will also be sorely missed by his life long friend Vernon Harris, and former wife Jettie and husband Doug Hourigan.
"T" was preceded in death by his father and mother, brother Clyde and son Billy, sisters Jackie Cravy and Barbra Hardin, nephew Shawn Saunders, and half-sister Jimmie Gilpin.
His light never dimmed.
