Lawana H. Martin, 73, of Amarillo died Thursday, July 18, 2002.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Amarillo Baptist Church with David Veazey, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd.
Mrs. Martin was born in Wichita Falls and raised in St. Francis Community. She graduated from Amarillo High School. She married Horace Henry Martin in January 1945 in Amarillo.
She worked for Novak Construction Co. as a bookkeeper. She volunteered for the Helping Hands organization and was a member of the Potter County React Association. She was a member of Amarillo Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Henry Martin, in 1990.
Survivors include her husband, Henry; a daughter, Joanna Dennis of Amarillo; a daughter-in-law, Sue Martin of Eric, Okla.; six sisters, Pebble Jordan, Lela McKenzie and Theo Arney, all of Amarillo, Anna Mae Newby and Billie Freeman, both of California, and Pat Stewart of Tulsa, Okla.; three brothers, Wyndell Eckert of Nevada, David Hill of Amarillo and Jackie Hill of Oklahoma; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will be at 10500 U.S. Highway 287.
The family suggests memorials be to Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center, 1500 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106.
