Ima was born in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, on Jan. 29, 1930, to Euell and Letha Mahan. She moved to Tehachapi in 1940, and eventually settled in Shafter.
She married Melvin Flud on June 12, 1948, in Las Vegas. Ima was the ultimate homemaker and mother but she also contributed to the household income working as a farm laborer and in the local
packing sheds. She also worked as a teacherŐs aide at Richland School. Ima enjoyed going to
Laughlin and barbequing with the family. She also loved helping with her kids, grandkids and
great grandkids. One of her most endearing qualities was how she fiercely protected and supported
her family.
