Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard K. Batson, pastor, officiating. Private family burial will be in Llano Cemetery by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Burton was born in Tulsa, Okla., and was raised in Corpus Christi. He was a 1960 graduate of Texas A&M University where he played in the "Aggie Band."
He married Nancy Rogers in 1962 in Corpus Christi. He served in the Army in Germany from 1962 until 1964. He had been an Amarillo resident since 1972. He was a petroleum engineer for Pioneer Production Co. and was a financial consultant for Equitable/AXA Advisers.
He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, as well as a Sunday School director. He was active in Scouting for many years. He was a committee chairman for Troop 80 Boy Scouts of America.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Anne Burton of Glendale, Calif.; a son, Jim Burton and wife, Chamene, of Lubbock; a grandson, Stetsen Kimberling Burton of Lubbock; and a granddaughter, Ashtyn Faith Burton of Lubbock.
The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church or to the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.
