Mr. Merle Leroy Hall, 90, of Bartlesville, died at 4:34 P.M. Thursday, July 14, 2011 in Bartlesville.

Funeral services for Mr. Hall will be held at 10 A.M. Monday, July 18, 2011 in the First United Methodist Church. Entombment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum in Tulsa directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

Mr. Hall was born on January 26, 1921 at Edinboro, Pennsylvania where he grew up, received his education and graduated from high school. He attended Penn State University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering. He served briefly in the U.S. military during World War II and then began his employment with Texas Oil Company as a petroleum engineer in Columbia and Venezuela . He was married to Joanne Snell on July 5, 1951 in Edinboro, Pennsylvania and they made their home in Venezuela until returning to the United States in 1952.He began his employment with Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville as a petroleum engineer in Bartlesville where he was employed until his retirement. He was then employed with the Bank of Oklahoma in downtown Tulsa for several years until his second retirement. Mr. and Mrs. Hall had a second home at Grand Lake for 22 years, made their home in the Tulsa area for several years and returned to Bartlesville in 2005. He was a life member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, was active as a scouter with the Boy Scouts, was active in Toastmasters and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Hall is survived by his wife, Joanne S. Hall of Bartlesville, two sons, Merle Lawrence “Larry” Hall of Dallas, Texas and Jeffrey Raleigh “Jeff” Hall and his wife Shelly of Alexandria, Virginia, two sisters, Beatrice Willey of Edinboro, Pennsylvania and Marjorie Eisaman of Kentucky, and four grandchildren, Kathy Hall, Anna Hall, Alex Hall and Oleg Hall.

Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty Gayle Steva
