Joanne Louise Snell Hall, 95, from Bartlesville, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023.

Born October 29, 1927 in Northeast, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Angelene DeEtte Worster Snell and Raleigh Chesley Snell. She was married to Merle Hall on July 5, 1951. Joanne graduated from Edinboro State Teacher’s College (later University) with an art degree. Her first job was to draw commercial ads depicting tiny waists for their local newspaper. After marrying Merle they made their home in Roblecito, 120 miles from Caracas, Venezuela, until returning to the United States in 1953. This is where they set roots to raise a family in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Joanne began her teaching career instructing the 8th and 9th graders her love of art. Mr. and Mrs. Hall had a second home at Grand Lake for 22 years in which Joanne loved entertaining. Merle, Joanne and sons enjoyed traveling and used their RV frequently. Joanne has been a member of the Bartlesville First Methodist Church since 1959, a docent at Philbrook Art Museum in Tulsa, and a member of the Sweet Gum Garden Club. Joanne loved spending time painting, sewing, arranging flowers, along with the love for cats.

Joanne is survived by her son, Merle Lawrence “Larry” Hall of Dallas, Texas, and Jeffrey Raleigh Hall and his wife, Shelly, of Alexandria, Virginia; grandchildren Kathy, Anna, Alex and Oleg Hall; and great-grandson, Bryan Hall; sisters Laura Kay Dixon and Mary Company, both of Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Joanne is predeceased by her loving husband, Merle LeRoy Hall, Jr., in 2011, and sister, Susan Isabel Snell Farris, in 2016.

Celebration of Life will be Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 1:00 PM and will take place at Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory, 1600 SE Washington Boulevard, Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Red Cross.
