Born in Ti, Oklahoma, he was the son of John D. and Jemima (Davis) Bennett. He graduated from McAlester High School continued his education at Oklahoma Baptist University and Baylor University graduating in 1935 with a degree in business administration. He went into partnership with his father at Bennett Mtr. Co. in Durant. He married Annie Pauline Butt in 1940. During World War II, he worked at McDonnell-Douglas and later went on to build McHoma Lodge in 1959, sold the lodge and retired in 1972. He died at his home in Bixby.
