MULESHOE - Delbert Watson, 74, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Assembly of God with Neil Unwin,
pastor, Joe Stone, pastor First Assembly of God Church of San Angelo, and Jim
Watson, a son and pastor of First Baptist Church in Lazbuddie, officiating. Burial
will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home.
Mr. Watson was born in Frederick, Okla., and had lived in Bailey County since 1926.
He was a member of First Assembly of God where he served as deason from 1949 until
1990. He had been a deacon and Sunday School superintendent for First
Assembly Church of God in Maple.
Mr. Watson was a director of the State Line Butane of Maple, Farmers Union of Texas,
National Grain Sorghum Producers, and Needmore Cooperative Gin. He was a member of
Southwestern Cattle Association, National Bonanza Society, and a committeeman of
Bailey County Farmers Home Administration. He was a farmer and rancher and a pilot.
He married Beth Phipps in 1947 at Maple.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tom Watson of Lubbock and the Rev. Jim Watson
of Lazbuddie; two sisters, Natalie Stewart of Truth or Consequences, N.M., and Naomi
Dudley of Plainview; three brothers, Leo Watson of Orlando, Fla., W.T. Watson of
Muleshoe and Buford Watson of San Antonio; and five grandchildren.
