Gary Goetz, 80, of South Fork, Colorado, former Texhoma resident passed away Thursday morning, July 28, 2022, at the Moore County Hospital in Dumas, Texas.
The son of Christian Klaus and Alma Amanda (Krueger) Goetz, Gary Christian Goetz was born June 25, 1942, at the family home in Thorndale, Texas. Gary attended school in Friona, Texas, graduating with the class of 1960.
Gary and Tommy Lou Lewellen were united in marriage on June 10, 1961, in Friona, Texas. They moved to Texhoma in 1964, where Gary was engaged in farming. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Gary and Tommy built the Hometown Inn in Texhoma in 1999, before retiring in 2005. They then moved to South Fork, Colorado, and traveled from there to Cleburne, Texas, part time in the winter. Tommy preceded him in death on May 10, 2020.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Alma Goetz; one brother, Harry Goetz and one sister, Angelyn Goetz.
Survivors include his two daughters: Tonja Berry and husband Bob of Texhoma, Oklahoma, and Nicki Korb and husband Ronny of Fort Worth, Texas; three grandchildren: Britni and husband Rory Buckmaster of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Brody Berry and wife Erin of Lubbock, Texas, and Jade Korb of Fort Worth, Texas; six great grandchildren: Drake, Emersyn, and Luke Buckmaster; and Bennett, Ryann, and Jack Berry.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon, August 1 st at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Texhoma with Pastor Russ Weaver, of the Shepherd’s Valley Cowboy Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Texhoma Cemetery. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
Memorials in Gary’s name can be made to a charity of your choice and will be accepted at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma, 73942. Friends can sign the online guestbook and leave condolences at www.bunchroberts.com.
