Fairybelle Covington March 12, 1910 July 7, 2005 Services: Tues., July 12, 10:00 a.m. Visitation for Fairybelle Covington will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles Street) from 5:00 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2005 and graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at 10:00 a.m.

Fairybelle was born March 12, 1910 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to William and Pemela-Dee Dial, and at the age of 95, she went home to be with the Lord on July 7, 2005 in Bakersfield, California with her family by her side.

She is preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Irma Covington and grandson, Kenny Covington; and she is survived by her son, Baxter Covington; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Charles Self; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Jo Covington; grandchildren, Pam, Brenda and Keith Covington, Charlene and Paul Self, Lynette, Julie and Bodie Covington; and numerous other family members and friends.

Fairybelle and Ernest with 3 kids came to California via The Grapes of Wrath, settled around the Sunset Camp area. They lived with 2 other families, sharing a tent. They worked in the fields, drove tractors, worked cotton and raised their children. They owned and worked Covingtons Grocery Store.

Fairybelle was always willing to tell stories of the old days.

She was loved by all that knew her and will be deeply missed.
