Shawnee resident William "Billy" Joe Dorsey Jr., 45, died early Monday evening, March 3, 2008, near his residence. He was born Feb. 5, 1963, in Oklahoma City to William J. Dorsey Sr. and Charlene (Harjo) Wood.
He attended schools in Shawnee, graduating from Shawnee High School in the spring of 1982. Billy didn't have any children of his own but he loved and was loved in return by his many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Dorsey, Sr.; brother, Alvin Lynn Dorsey and step-father, Emmett Wayne Wood.
Billy is survived by his mother, Mary Charlene Wood of the home; brothers and sisters, Melvin Dorsey, Steven Dorsey, Richard Dorsey, Donald Dorsey, Anthony Slinker, Michael Wood, Julia Ned, Karen Slinker and Teresa Wood; plus many, many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Service will be 2 p.m. today at the First Indian Baptist Church with the Rev. Houston Tiger officiating.
Pallbearers will be William (Son) Marlow, Gary Dorsey, Nelson Meeks, Barry Beeson, Daniel (Danny) Dorsey, and William (Jay) Pennock. Honorary Pallbearers are James Herbert Harjo, Phillip Harjo, and Amos Dorsey. Burial well be in the Hawkins Family Cemetery in Wewoka following the funeral services.
Arrangements are under the direction of Schumacher Funeral Home of Okemah.
