Sageeyah Cemetery Survey Notes

Rogers County was called to obtain a listing of all people buried in Sageeyah Cemetery because the County serves as the Sexton for the cemetery. I found that the listing provided by Rogers County was the Date of Birth and Date of Interment, not Date of Death. They did provided a listing of people buried there. I then went to the cemetery and found and located all of the grave markers, recorded the text and dates from the stones. There are ten individuals for which I could find no marker. They are marked as "Unmarked Grave" and no row number is associated with them. There are some stones and other types of markers, with little or no identification on them. I took pictures of them and have located them as "Unknown" in the "Location" section for the database.

I split the cemetery into two sections - "North Section" and "South Section" with the dividing line being the road that encircles the South Section. The rows were numbered from East to West. So Row "1 S" is the first row, on the East side (toward Northhaven Road) of the South Section. THE ROWS ARE NOT STRAIGHT. The markers are lined up sort of randomly " makes it difficult to keep things orderly. Some rows have only one or two graves in that row.

Pictures were made of every marker I could find. A few markers had to be highlighted with chalk or shaving cream to be able to read the information. I included a picture of the cemetery dedication marker. It is located in the middle of the South section.

When there are 2 rows in the Location Section, it means one of two things 1) there are 2 markers "usually 1 military (but not always) and a stone marker; or 2) the unknown family plot is located between rows 1 and 2 in the South Section.
