Bud Wood

Bud Wood was born December 14, 1919 in Canadian, Texas to Bessie and Ora Alvin Wood.

He passed away at the age of 83 years in Bend, Oregon, June 24, 2003. He was on his 23rd trip to Campbell River, British Columbia where he spent his summers salmon fishing.

Bud grew up in Canadian, Texas and Reydon, Oklahoma before moving to Amarillo, Texas with his parents.

He graduated from high school in Amarillo and he attended UCA where he studied accounting.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy 7th fleet during World War II.

After his discharge he returned to Amarillo, Texas, then moved to Phoenix, Arizona to join his uncles Tom anfd Calvin Tackett where Bud was a letter carrier, for the United States Postal Service and retired in 1976.

After his retirement he bought a camper and continued to travel throughout the United States and Canada.

Bud was a master mason for 50 years and was currently a member of the Arizona Lodge #2.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patricia Domer.

Pallbearers were Stony Scrivner, Jesse Scrivner, J. T. Porter, Melvin Tacket, Steve Leonard and Roy LeGrand.

Services were held Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Reydon First Baptist Church, officiated by Alberta Helton.

Burial was at the White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service, Cheyenne.

Survivors include one daughter, Lynne Cole of Phoenix, Arizona; one nephew, Ron Domer of Fresno, California; aunt Ruby Baker of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; cousins, Herschelle Wood of Anthony, Kansas; Georgia Sadler of Reydon, Oklahoma; John Scrivner of Reydon, Oklahoma; Billy Wood of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Leroy Wood of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Lester Isch of Reydon, Oklahoma; Opal Evans of Canadian, Texas; Elsie Leonard of Reydon, Oklahoma; Ina Gifford of Midwest City, Oklahoma; and a host of other relatives and friends.
