Agnes Mara Denton was born March 11, 1904, at Lee Summit, Missouri. She was the only child of Chrles Edward and Mary Alice Denton.

The Dentons moved to Rankin, Oklahoma in 1908.

Agnes joined the church at an early age. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Reydon Home Demonstration Club.

Agnes and Elea Clay were married January 16, 1923. To this union, five children were born, Thelma, Dortha, Lee, Ray and Mary.

Elea and Agnes made their home on the family farm east of Reydon where they lived for fifty years before Elea's death in 1973.

Agnes continued to live on the farm until 1984 when her health began to fail. Since then she has resided at the South Park Health Care Center in Oklahoma City, until her death at the South Community Hospital, August 7, 1988.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elea and son, Lee.

She is survived by Thelma and Jake Coym of Weslaco, Texas; Dortha and Hank Webb of Jones, Oklahoma; Mrs. Lee Clay of Lamar, Colorado; Ray and Judy Clay of Reydon, Oklahoma; and Mary and Rex Hays of Oklahoma City; sixteen grandchildren; twenty on great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

There never was a more loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother or neighbor than Agnes. Her hugs and kisses, smiles and laughter and loving ways will be missed by all, but will remain forever in our memories.

Services were conducted Thursday, August 11, 1988 at 11 a.m. at the Reydon Community Building with Rev. Billy Wheeler officiating.

Interment was at the White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers were David Coym, John Hays, Tracy Matthews, Homer Parman, Jerry Webb and Mike Webb.

Honorary pallbearers were Matt Clay, Jimmy Clay, Travis Clay and Jackie Coym.
