Paul Wheeler Burks

Paul Wheeler Burks, 70, of Rt. l, Reydon, Oklahoma was born April 4, 1916 to Benjamin and Mollie Burks in Parsons, Kansas and passed away Monday, February 16, 1987 at his home.

Paul moved with his parents to Rankin, Oklahoma in 1922 where he grew up.

On Novenber 6, 1936 he and Dessie L. Davis were married.

They lived in Jefferson City, Missouri and Dumas, Texas before returning to Reydon in 1945 to make their home.

He was a retired farmer and an accomplished carpenter.

Paul had been a member of the First Baptist Church for a number of years. He had served as a Deacon since 1948 and a Sunday school teacher for a number of years.

Those who preceded him in death were his parents; two brothers, Ernie and Pete; two half brothers; one sister, Grace Crabtree; and two half sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Dessie of the home; one son, Sterling Leon Burks of Stillwater, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Jerry, Tracy, Tray and Tommy; one sister, Martha Wilder of Santa Anna, California; two brothers, Charles of Cushing, Oklahoma and Bennie of Dumas, Texas; as well as other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, February 19, 1987 at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Reydon with Ernest Ashcraft, Eddie Overstreet and Lynn Heard officiating.

Interment followed in the White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County under the direction of the Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Cheyenne.

Pallbearers were Lonnie Isch, Lindy Sasser, Dick Parks, Randy Parman, Bobby Ritchie and Tommy Dailey.

Honorary pallbearers were Deacons of the Reydon First Baptist Church, Luther Pierce, Percy Minard, O. T. Park, Weldon Teague and Ernest West.
