Charles "Bib" Batchelor was born February 6, 1927 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma to Willie Ann and William H. Batchelor. He passed away May 24, 2004 at his home south of Cheyenne, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 18 days.

He attended school at Reydon before moving with his family to California. They returned to Oklahoma where he enlisted in the US Army in 1945 and served his country during World War II.

After his discharge, he moved back to Reydon and later moved to Oklahoma City and worked at Tinker Field Air Force Base.

He was married to Doris Ann Dotson at Cheyenne on December 24, 1948 and they moved to Tulsa where he worked at McDonell-Douglas Aircraft as a welder.

In 1956 they moved to Miami, Texas where he started his ranching career.

They returned to Oklahoma where he worked as a cowboy for several ranches in Roger Mills County but was mainly associated with the Thurmond Ranch for over 40 years.

Bib retired in the summer of 2003. He enjoyed fishing, arrowhead hunting and working with animals.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; and one brother, Lonnie I. Batchelor.

Graveside services were held May 27, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Jean of the home; three children Billy DeWayne Batchelor and wife Barbara of Elk City, Oklahoma; Gary Batchelor and wife, Christy of Elk City, Oklahoma; Mary Ann Batchelor of Okarche, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Chris Batchelor and wife Trish; Jordan Lindberg; Shamon Batchelor; Garyn Batchelor; Jason Cordell and wife Misty; Patrick Cordell and wife Laura; three great grandchildren,Alyssa and Amanda Batchelor; and Memphis Cordell; two sisters Fannie Gray of Sayre, Oklahoma; Roberta Bonds of Sayre, Oklahoma; a special nephew Bill Yowell of Reydon, Oklahoma; his exended family Pete and Susie Thurmond and their children Katie, Allison and Patrick; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
