Dora Amanda Wright Barker was born August 29, 1908 in Crescent, Oklahoma to Josie and Asa Wright. She passed away May 8, 2003 in Roger Mills Memorial Hospital, Cheyenne, Oklahoma at the age of 94 years 8 months and 9 days.

She moved with her family to Roger Mills County by covered wagon at the ripe old age of 8 days. Dora had her schooling at Enterprise and Rankin. She married Earl Barker on June 13, 1925. They made their home in the Rankin/Reydon area where Erma Lea and Roy Elwin were born. Dora never worked outside the home, though she helped with the farming and making a home for her family. She and Earl bought a new travel trailer in 1965 to take on their frequent fishing trips. Dora was an avid fisherwoman, gardener, card player and she also loved to dance.

She became a member of Reydon First Baptist Church on September 3, 1934 and maintained her membership until the present time.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one granddaughter, Cheryl Castor; one grandson, Eldwin Dean Barker; one great great grandson, Cayson Castor and her son-in-law, Billie Burns.

Services were held May 12, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Reydon First Baptist Church, officiated by Andy Taylor.

Burial was held at the White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.

Survivors include one daughter, Erma Lea Burns of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; one son, Roy Elwin Barker and wife, Melba of Reydon, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Doran and Anne-Marie Burns of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Billy Earl and Sadie Burns of Del Norte, Colorado; Ramona and David Williams of Tuttle, Oklahoma; Michael and Leah Barker of Edmond, Oklahoma; Elwyn Gene Barker of Del City, Oklahoma; nine great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; her special care giver, Kathy King of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; and a host of other relatives and friends.
