John Henry Sing

John Henry Sing was born October 3, 1857 in Tennessee and died September 16, 1932 at Mountainair, New Mexico at the age of 74 years, 11 months and 13 days.

In his early years he left Tennessee and moved to Mississippi. He lived in that state only a short time before moving to Oklahoma where he resided about 50 years.

He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Page in 1877 and to this union was born ten children. Five of which remain to mourn his passing.

His first wife died in 1917. The following year he moved to New Mexico where he married Miss Nancy Medley in 1919.

He was converted and joined the Baptist church when he was 30 years of age. He was made a deacon ten years ago.

Throughout his Christian life he was devoted to his Christian faith.

He was respected and loved by all who knew him.

The body was returned to Sayre Sunday night and funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the First Baptist church in Strong City, Rev. S. S. Elliott officiating.

Interment was in the Strong City cemetery. Killough-Hullum funeral home of this city had charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Sing is survived by four daughters and one son, Mrs. Billie Brown of Strong City; Mrs. Richard Hay, Mrs. John Hall, Mrs. W. D. Graham, and Jim Sing of Tulsa; as well as other relatives and friends.
