Submitted by: Wanda Purcell

Cletice Ivory Prestridge was born December 26, 1894 at Hewitt, Indian Territory, and moved from there to Roger Mills County with her parents in 1899, having spent the greater part of her life in this community.

She received her education in the Strong City Schools.

She professed religion when 13 years old and united with the Missionary Baptist church of Strong City. It was always her greatest pleasure while doing church and Sunday school work. She served as secretary and pianist of her Sunday School for many years.

She was married to Ernest Kendall March 27, 1913 and to this union were born six children, four girls and two boys, Mrs. Clyde McClellan; Muriel, Dorothy, Louise, Elwyn and Jack, all of Strong City.

She was carried to the Standifer hospital February 4, 1935 and was operated on February 8, 1935 for gallstones in an effort to save her life but too complicated diseases made it impossible.

She bore her suffering bravely and made desperate efforts to live, but after several hours of suffering she passed away at 1:30 o'clock February 20, 1935.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband; six children; one granddaughter, Eva Janet McClellan; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Prestridge; and one brother, L .A. Prestridge, all of Strong City; and a host of other relatives and friends among them her aged grandmother, Mrs. J. A. Cofer.

She was a faithful wife devoted mother, and grandmother and a sweet and loving daughter and sister, loved by all who knew her.

The funeral services were held in the Baptist Church Thursday, February 21, 1935. Rev. Fred Wright preaching the sermon.

The body was laid to rest in the Strong City Cemetery, Strong City, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
