Manuel Charles Hensley was born April 7, 1919 in Strong City, Oklahoma to Charles Ordway and Jessie Vine (Brazell) Hensley. He passed away February 16, 2018 at his home in Strong City, Oklahoma at the age of 98 years, 10 months and 9 days.

Manuel grew up on the family farm south of Strong City, Oklahoma on the Snakey Bend of the Washita River. He attended school and graduated from Strong City High School in 1939. After graduation he furthered his education at Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma where he received his degree in Agriculture Science. Manuel returned back to Strong City where he was married to Teresa Louie Young on September 29, 1940. After their marriage they welcomed 3 children to this union: Charles Dwain, Frankie Colleen and Jeffery Neal. They continued to raise their family and in 1946 Manuel began working for the Santa Fe Railroad company where he began as a section hand eventually working his way up to machine operator running several different machines. During the end of Manuel's 33 year career he also cared for Teresa during her battle with cancer. Manuel retired from the Santa Fe Railroad in 1979 and later began working for the Cheyenne School District where he could continue caring for his wife. In 1983, when Teresa passed away, Manuel continued working for the school district until his second retirement in 1991. It was on January 23, 1988 that he married Loretta Faye (Woods) Hensley at Strong City, Oklahoma. With this marriage he gained a step son: BJ Payne. Together they continued to make their home in Strong City and Manuel continued to work for the Roger Mills Rural Water District until the age of 90 where he retired for a third time. Even though Manuel retired he was a lifetime board member of the rural water district. Manuel enjoyed caring for his horses, mules, dogs, participating in the Red Hills Wagon Train, quail hunting and spending countless hours with his grandchildren.
