Daniel Vernon (Dick) Damron was born near Herring, Oklahoma on May 6, 1919, and departed this life at his home near Hammon, Oklahoma on June 16, 1959, at the age of 40 years, 1 month and 10 days. He had lived in the Herring community all of his life, attending schools at both Hammon and Cheyenne. He was united in marriage on August 15, 1938 to Anna Mae Taylor and to this union were born five children. Two sons preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife and three children, Beverly Ann, Larry and Gary of the home address; two sisters, Mrs. Bill Allen of Hammon and Mrs. Robert Johnson of Amarillo, Texas; two brothers, Cecil of Sayre and Buford of Henderson, Nevada, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was converted in 1938 and united with the Pentecostal Holiness church and was an active and faithful worker during his Christian Life. Services were conducted in the Pentecostal Holiness church at Hammon with Rev. Albert Trent of Elk City and Rev. Irene Clark of Hammon officiating. Casket bearers were Clyde Stewart, Raymond Clark, Wayne Parkhurst, Robert Burrows, Jr., John Chapman and Nick Blanken. Committal was in the Red Hill cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with Martin Funeral Home in charge.
