John Calvin Wheeler

John Calvin Wheeler was born May 29, 1891 near Sargent, Missouri. The son of William and Sarah Wheeler, he departed this life January 6, 1961 at his home in Canadian, Texas at the age of 71 years and 8 months.
He moved with his parents to Rankin, Oklahoma in 1913.
He was united in marriage to Myrtle Walters, March 28, 1915. To this union five children were born, Elmo and Tony of Canadian, Texas; Paul of El Centro, California; Clyce of Tunic, Greece, and Mrs. Patsy Murray of Pampa, Texas.
Funeral services were at the First Baptist Church in Canadian of which he was a member. Rev. Sanford Cole officiating.
He was laid to rest in the Canadian, Texas cemetery.
Pall bearers were his nephews, Dow, Joe and Dillard Wheeler; Pete and Benny Burks; and Bob Richardson.
His father, mother, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of the home address; five children; fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother Ben of Vinita, Oklahoma; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Moon of Bado, Missouri; Mrs. Molly Burks of Fullerton, California; and Mrs. Grace Richardson of Reydon, Oklahoma; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for John Calvin Wheeler, 70, long-time resident of Canadian, were conducted Sunday afternoon at the First Baptist church in Canadian, with Sanford Cole in charge of the rites, assisted by Rev. Joe Vernon, pastor of the church.
Burial was in the Canadian cemetery.
Mr. Wheeler died at his home in Canadian early Friday morning, January 26, 1962 after a long illness.
John Calvin Wheeler was born in Houston, Missouri, on May 2, 1891.
He moved to western Oklahoma in 1914 and came to Canadian in 1920. After some years away from here, the family returned to Canadian in 1935 and had lived here since that time.
Mr. Wheeler was a mason and a carpenter.
Surviving him are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. T. L. {Patsy} Murphy of Pampa, Texas; four sons, Elmo and Tony of Canadian; Paul of El Centro, California; and Clyce, who is now in Tunisia, North Africa; one brother, Ben Wheeler of Vinita, Oklahoma; and three sisters, Mrs. Alice Moon of Houston, Missouri; Mrs. Molly Burks of Fullerton, California; and Mrs. Jess Richardson of Reydon, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers at the funeral rites were Mr. Wheeler's nephews, Joe and Dow Wheeler of Canadian; Bobby Richardson of Pampa; Paul and Pete Burks of Reydon; and Dillard Wheeler of Reydon.
Burial in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery, Canadian, Texas.
