Frank Barton

Frank Barton, 61, passed away at his residence on Friday, April 26, 1996 after a long illness.

Mr. Barton was born on February 24, 1935 in Strong City, Oklahoma, the son of Jess and Lela Underwood Barton.

Mr. Barton was a veteran of the Korean conflict, having served in the US Army.

He had been an employee of the Western Company for 13 years, as a pump operator, prior to moving to Robstown in May, 1967. Mr. Barton was retired from Hoechst Celanese Corporation in 1988 where he had worked as an operator for 18 1/2 years.

He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Robstown, and was ordained a Deacon on December 9, 1973.

Mr. Barton was a volunteer Paramedic and EMT of Robstown for ten years.

He, along with his wife Lois, owned the H.& R. Block Co. of Robstown and Barton Bookkeeping Co.

Mr. Barton was preceded in death by his parents and his youngest brother, Joe Barton.

Survivors include his wife, Lois of Robstown; four sons, Ronnie {Sue} Barton of Corpus Christi; Erick {Barbie} Barton of Odom; Jerry {Karen} Barton of Lone Grove, Oklahoma; and Sammie Barton of Inglesdie; one brother, Bill Barton of Bookfield, Missouri; four sisters, Nelda Lee of Casa Grande, Arizona; Art Carmichael of Osceola, Iowa; Sharon Milner of Edmond, Oklahoma; and Carol Waugh of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; fifteen grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frank was the oldest son of Jess and Lela Underwood Barton; the nephew of Hallie Carey of Cheyenne; Maye Gantz of Shattuck, Oklahoma; Wretha Throne of Childress, Texas; and Robert Underwood of Winlock, Washington.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 1996 in the First Baptist Church of Robstown, with Dr. Robert Manley, Pastor, officiating.
