Submitted by: Wanda Purcell

James D. Anderson was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky, August 7, 1862 and departed this life at the home of his daughter, Mrs. N. D. Hickman of National City, California, August 4, 1948, having attained the age of 85 years, 11 months and 27 days.

Early in life he moved to Neodesha, Kansas, where he was united in marriage with Laura Naomi Black, who preceded him in death October 28, 1944.

To this union were born seven children, Naomi Hickman of National City, California; Claude Anderson of Santa Rosa, California; Doyle Anderson, deceased; Floyd Anderson of Vale, Oregon; Flavis Anderson of Durham, Oklahoma; Bennie L. Anderson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Dr. Roy W. Anderson of Cordell, Oklahoma.

Besides his children there remains to mourn his loss one brother in Kentucky, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other relatives together with a host of friends.

Near the beginning of the country, Mr. Anderson moved with his family to western Oklahoma near Durham where for many years he engaged in farming.

He was known as an honest, hard-working, progressive citizen of that community. After he retired he traveled about in different states making his home in Neodesha, Kansas.

Mr. Anderson at an early age accepted Jesus as his Savior and was for years a faithful member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. His faith sustained him with a "unfailing trust" through all his last sufferings, and many times he expressed the hope that he would meet loved ones where pain and suffering and sorrow will be no more.

Funeral services were held at Neodesha, Kansas, August 9, 1948 and interment was in Ross Cemetery by the side of his wife, with Rev. W. H. Clark, Oklahoma City and Rev. A. Van Benschoten, Neodesha, Kansas, officiating ministers.

Relatives attending the funeral included Rev. and Mrs. N. R. Hickman of National City, California; Flavis Anderson of Durham, Oklahoma; Dr. and Mrs. Roy W. Anderson and daughters, Darline and Marjorie of of Cordell, Oklahoma; Mr. and Mrs. Bennie L. Anderson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Mr. Phil Anderson of Grandview, Washington; Mr. Frank Anderson of Camarillo, California; Mrs. Josie Whitter of Anderson, Missouri; Mrs. Ernest Mitchell of Pineview, Missouri; and Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Black of Parsons, Kansas.
