Submitted by: Leila Evett

Everyone in Hammon were shocked with grief when the news flashed over town that the death angel had entered the home of A. P. Hungate, one of the early pioneers of this section, and took to her eternal rest the beloved wife and mother. Mrs. Hungate had suffered for about a year with acute heart affection but had borne the affliction with a sweet, patient resignation that was beautiful, and when the end came she quietly passed over the river of life to await the coming of loved ones.
The funeral occured at the Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. today, and the edifice was taxed to its utmost to accomodate the vast throng who came to pay a last tribute to the memory of this splendid Christian character, and listen to the beautiful eulogy pronounced by the officiating minister. Following this service, the flowerladen casket was conveyed to the cemetery at Kiowa, where the remains were gently laid to rest.
Surviving Mrs. Hungate, who had passed the fourscore milestone of life, are a husband and several daughters, all of whom were present at the last sad rites. The Advocate extends this sorrowing family sincere condolences.
Note: The surviving daughters were: Della, Brittie, Betty, Emily and Lula.
Lucretia Stark was born 13 August 1845 near Terre Haute, Indiana. She died 12 January 1927 in Hammon, Roger Mills county, Oklahoma. She married Adolphus Pheloneous Hungate in Vigo County, Indiana 12 May 1867.
