Funeral services for James Ross Peterson were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Sunny Point Community building. Burial was in the Dempsey cemetery under the direction of the Scroggins Funeral Home of Cheyenne.
Death came to Mr. Peterson at his home in Cheyenne Monday afternoon, August 2, 1948 after a critical illness of seven months.
Survivors include the wife, Maggie of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; two daughters, Mrs. Effie Cary of Rogers, Arkansas; and Mrs. Ollie Beavin of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; one brother, Jeff D. Peterson of Watts, Oklahoma and one sister, Mrs. Martha Gifford of Grimes, Oklahoma; as well as numerous friends.
Mr. Peterson and his family came to Roger Mills County in 1905 and settled near Grimes where he resided until 1944 when he moved to Cheyenne.

James R. Peterson, pioneer citizen of Roger Mills County, died at his home at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 2, 1948.
Mr. Peterson was born August 16, 1865 in Adkins, Tennessee.
He was united in marriage to Maggie D. Thaxton, December 21, 1890.
The couple came to Oklahoma in 1905. They settled near the Grimes community and farmed there until 1944 when they moved to Cheyenne.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maggie Peterson of Cheyenne; two daughters, Mrs. Effie Cary of Rogers, Arkansas; Mrs. Ollie Beavin of Cheyenne; one brother, Jeff D. Peterson of Watts, Oklahoma; one sister, Mrs. Martha A. Gifford of Grimes; as well as other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 4, 1948 at the Sunny Point community building with the Rev. Don Anderson and the Rev. J. D. Green, both of Cheyenne, officiating.
Burial will be in the Dempsey cemetery with the Scroggins Funeral home of Cheyenne in charge of arrangements.
