James Marion Payne was born April 8, 1870. He died December 14, 1920, aged 50 years, 8 months and 6 days.
Mr. Payne confessed Christ at the age of 18 and was united with the M. E. Church, south. He has been a true member and was a faithful worker in his church as long as his health permitted.
He had been in poor health for over a year caused from a cancer and all that could be done was done, but the Heavenly Father saw best to take him away.
He lived on the farm near Dempsey until a few months ago when he was taken to Elk City where he remained until his death.
He leaves a wife and six children, besides other relatives and friends to mourn his death.
Mr. Payne was married to Ollie May Jones, December 31, 19??. {Can't read date.}
Funeral services were conducted by Bro. Coffee assisted by Bro. Martin after which he was laid to rest in the Dempsey Cemetery on December 16, 1920.
