Nellie Pearl Giddens was born to Ophelia Ella Maltby Jones and Roscius Bruce (R.B.) Jones on Feb. 2, 1915, near Strong City, Okla. She lived there on the farm with her parents until she was 3 years old, then the family moved to a farm in the Dempsey Community where she grew to womanhood and attended school, at old Dempsey School and later Meridian and Blueridge. She was converted and joined the Baptist Church when she was eleven years of age. Most of her adult life was spent in Texas near Perryton and Spearman, where she was engaged in the cafe business.

She was stricken with cancer and had to give up her work and lived with her daughter, Fern Tenney Lyton, at Walters, Okla. Later she was taken to Oklahoma City to be near her doctor and lived with her younger sister, Vesta Lewis and family. Her husband, Drew Giddens, preceded her in death in 1975.

She leaves to mourn her passing 4 children; Fern Lyton, of Walters, Okla.; Laura Rhodes, in Texas; Leroy Jines and Charley Jines of Perryton, Texas; 5 grandchildren. Her brothers are Homer Jones, of Elk City; Bill Jones, of Dumas, Texas; Sam Jones, of San Diego, Calif.; and Herb Jones, of Salem, Oregon; and sisters Madge Allen, of Belin, New Mexico; Hazel Reeder, of Amarillo, Texas; Lorraine Mills, of Beaverton, Oregon; and Vesta Lewis, Oklahoma City; OK.

Two brothers, R. Bruce Jones, Jr., and Clifford Maltby Jones preceded her in death as did one sister, Kate Hensley.

Burial was in the Dempsey Cemetery, Roger Mills County, OK beside her parents, Ophelia Ella and Roscius Bruce Jones.
