Mrs. Mary Abney Ely of Cheyenne died Tuesday, August 20 at the Bethel Nursing home, Elk City, following an extended illness.
Services were held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene with Rev. T. R. Louthan officiating.
Born May 28, 1890 at Clover Bottom, Kentucky, Mrs. Ely was married to Henry C. Ely in 1913 in Vera, Kentucky.
They came to the Doxey community in 1917. They moved to the Cheyenne community in 1927.
She has been a member of the church of the Nazarene since 1930.
Survivors include her husband of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Jane Schmidt of Sweetwater; Mrs. Frankie Tidwell of Grimes; Mrs. Deaton Williams of Sayre; two sons, Hiram of Cheyenne; Leonard with the U.S. Armed Forces in Germany; four brothers, Charlie Abney of Marriott, Kentucky; Leonard Abney of Briar, Kentucky; Roy Abnye of Iowa; Dennie Abney of Wyoming; one sister, Mrs. S. C. Owens of Briar, Kentucky; and twenty five grandchildren.
Pall bearers were Willie Mutschier, Steve Schmidt, Charlie Myers, Jodie Peters, Grover Parman and Lloyd Fanshier.
Interment was in the Dempsey cemetery, Dempsey, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
